Writers Hang Out With Interesting People

You don’t want life to be boring and writers always have interesting characters around. They may not be the most reputable, upstanding citizens but they will never be dull.

Besides, who wants to hang out with a bunch of accountants or bankers anyways? (If you're an accountant or banker I don't really mean it. . . Or do I?)

I'm sure you want some excitement in your life, not just the humdrum of sitting in a cubicle all day and then making dinner and sitting in front of a television screen.

You want excitment, you want action. That is why humans are natually drawn to gossip. We like to hear stories about murder, debauchery and affairs. It's no fun if it happens to ourselves but we like to be just close enough for it to be titillating.

Writers Are Masters of Human Nature

Writers study people so they can get their characters just right. They are constant people watches which can come with its own form of entertainment.

It also means writers look and think of others more often than the average person. They understand the different personality types and see things from a unique perspective. They litterally can step into another person's shoes if they want. This can help resolve or avoid arguments.

Writers also pick up on subtle physical cues which can be useful in all sorts of situations from negotiations to large parties.

Writers Are Great Communicators

Writers have developed different communication strategies. They are as comfortable with instant messaging as they are with phone conversations or emails, which means they can switch to whatever way you find best.

Writers often take time to process things but once they do make their decision or come to a conclusion they are generally final.

Writers Wear Their Hearts on Their Sleeves

Writers cannot hide their emotions. You will always be able to tell if they are tense or angry or stressed. This can be a bad thing in high pressure social situations like meeting your family but it is also very healthy. You don't have to worry about them being a raging alcoholic or suddenly snapping.

It also means that they don’t have any secrets. They will want to share with you and even if they don't feel like talking it is easy to pry it out of them.

Writers Will Make You Smarter

The best way to become smarter is to read, and guess what? Writers do a lot of reading. Think of it as a shortcut. Instead of spending all that time reading, you could just hang out with a writer who will fill your head with all that knowledge you will ever need.

You could, of course, just ask Google but then you would only get to know the things that you put in. Writers, on the other hand, will tell you all sorts of things that you hadn't even thought of.

Writers Have Their Sh*t Together

Writing is very therapeutic and it puts you in touch with your emotions. It can be hard at first but writing forces you to organize your thoughts in a coherent way. It forces you to deal with those issues that have long been simmering underneath the pot, which means you don't have to.

There is nothing worse than someone still hung up on their ex. Better for them to release their feelings in a healthy and productive way.

This also means that they will want to know what you are feeling so be be prepared to share.

(Don’t worry if they put it in a book they will change your name. Hopefully.) You will have to be willing to put yourself out there occasionally.

Writers Can Drink You Under The Table

You may wonder why this is a good thing. It's not like it's a competition, right? Well, remember that time you got so drunk that you couldn’t find your way home?

If you’re dating a writer then they will take care of you and make sure you don’t do anything stupid.

Well, at least not too stupid.
